Why is OneDrive asking for a code?
When the Client opens the email and clicks the link, they will be prompted to request a verification code via email to verify that the person opening the link is the recipient. From a security point of view, this ensures that attachments are NOT sent by email, which is especially important for sensitive documents.
No External Sharing: Files, folders, and sites can only be shared with individuals who have accounts in your organization’s OneDrive, SharePoint Online, or Office 365 subscription. Sharing With Anonymous Users: Files and folders can be shared with any external user–verified or not–who receives the sharing link.
How do I access someone else’s OneDrive?
Access a former user’s OneDrive documents
- In the admin center, go to the Users > Active users page.
- Select a user.
- In the right pane, select OneDrive. Under Get access to files, select Create link to files.
- Select the link to open the file location.
Do you need a Microsoft account to access OneDrive?
Before you can use Office Online and OneDrive, you’ll need a Microsoft account. If you already have a @hotmail.com, @live.com, or @outlook.com email account (or any other account that lets you use a Microsoft service), you already have a Microsoft account. To access OneDrive, just sign in with your existing account.
Is sharing via OneDrive secure?
As for sharing links to your OneDrive data, having shared one folder stored in OneDrive does not provide a hacker an avenue to access your other folders. Yes, your shared data is vulnerable if you send a link to an unsecure recipient, but the link in the email is time-limited.
Do OneDrive links expire?
Shared links do not expire by default on OneDrive for Business. If you choose a no sign-in required link and you want to set the link to expire, click Set expiration, and then choose how long before the link expires, such as 30 days.
Why do I need to share OneDrive with external users?

Is there a way to block external sharing on OneDrive?
After you set the organization-wide sharing settings for SharePoint and OneDrive, you can further restrict the external sharing for a specific OneDrive user. Instead of changing the external sharing setting for an individual user’s OneDrive, you might want to block external sharing of sensitive information for all users.
External sharing works as described, but afterwards there is no guest user created in the tenant and for every subsequent share instead of asking for a verification code the external user is propmpted to sign, only to receive the following error:
1. Create test file in the Onedrive account of User A (who is an internal user) 2. User A shares a file for viewing to User B (external email who is not associated with any tenant and the email is not associated with an MS account) 3. User B receives the email with the link to the file. 4.
